By the time Alvin Lustig died at the age of forty in 1955, he had already introduced principles of Modern art to graphic design that have had a long-term influence on contemporary practice. He did this through his contributions to the design of books and book jackets, magazines, interiors, and textiles as well as his teachings. He also designed lighting, logos, advertisements and a host of other graphic material. He was a pioneer who reinvented these objects creating works of beauty through design. See more of his work at the Lustig site and get information on buying posters. Also check out the reproduction process at Flickr.

These posters cover the essential illustrated history of folding and rocking chairs. They're not only a great reference but an art statement as well, further blurring the line between art and design.

More great original art from Patent Pending Industries. These folks have an amazing graphic sensibility that takes posters to a high art form.

From Alpha Workshops come these bold wallpapers for decorating your space. Called the "Painted Papers" collection, it comprises designs in a range of styles from vivid florals to subtle stripes, 50s retro patterns to more classic designs. All of the wallpapers are hand-painted using some combination of stamping and paint techniques. They are made to order and are available in custom colors and roll lengths.

These gorgeous limited edition prints are the work of Bernadette Sipkes of Sugar Loop, an illustrator who lives in New Zealand. She was recently featured by Domino Magazine and her work has been selling like hotcakes. This printmaking is influenced by organic elements, mid-century design and the prints of Florence Broadhurst and, interestingly, was printed on a Gocco printer. These Japanese printers are a dream for anyone from kids to artist. Unfortunately they are getting harder to come by as the company is stopping production of them. There is a campaign called Save Gocco to try to keep them in production. Do us all a favor and visit the Save Gocco site so we can keep enjoying wonderful art such as this.

These modern prints and pillows are inspired by an organic simplicity of nature and are silkscreened on 100% linen. They have a natural beauty that will last for years. By Three Sheets 2 The Wind at Elsewares.

I have wanted to feature Andre for a while now. I love her graphic design and I love her home. They are both vibrant, colorful and just so much fun to look at. They reflect the same sensibility. Andrea lives in Germany with her husband and two beautiful children. I don't know weather her design work has been picked of by a production company but it needs to be. So it anyone reading can pass this in to the right people, please do so.

By Fribert is the name of the company that Danish textile designer Kristen Fribert created to sell her products made from her hand silk screened fabrics. Varied pattern and multi color are her signature. These are vibrant yet understated designs. Available at Tivoli Home.

Here are a few fun items that make an eclectic assortment from friends at Etsy, orange monster from Pink Almond, Poppy Tie from Toy Breaker, graphic design from Miss Evil Kitty 2, Eye Brooch from Elena Mary, green and pink bracelet from Local Library, Pomegranate necklace from Artisan Jewelry. It's important to support independent designers!

Posh Betty is the place to go for some retro style and fun. From clocks to coasters to stationary it all has a cheeky hip flair. This is a great site for modernists who don't take themselves too seriously.

I am quite happy with the ongoing shift in the world of graphic design back to earlier modern styles reminiscent of silk screen printing and block printing. A reworking of mid-century graphic themes is abounding in poster art and it's gorgeous. This can be seen in the work of Jeff Kleinsmith at Patent Pending Industries. These three posters are a small sample of his and the companies work, but they are beautiful.

Method Bloq is a series of new personal care products from Method. Shower soap, body lotion, shave cream...with nice scents and good pricing. But what strikes me once again is the attention to design in the product packaging. I love that about Method products. They've done it again.
