Spoon and Fork are wonderful books about great design. They feature items that are or will be icons of design and celebrate the world of design.

Metropolis is a magazine after my own heart. It's a design magazine that covers every type of design that's urban...translation hip, modern, cutting edge. They've been going strong for 25 years, and if you love "urban" design, this should be coming in your mailbox.
I never thought I would be interested in living in a townhouse, but after owning a 1910 home for 9 years, the idea of a house with no exterior maintenance and on grounds amenities is looking quite good. As someone who loves modern architecture it can be difficult to find townhouses that fit that preference. That is why The Modern Townhouse by James Grayson Trulove is my dream in book form. It covers renovating existing townhouses and new townhouses. I don't know if I'll find a modern beauty like this, but it's nice to dream.
This is a wonderful book about a seminal period in interior design which combined the work of great modern textile, furniture, object and home designers. A great resource from Conran Octopus Interiors.

I have always loved pop-up books, but I have a special fondness for David A. Carter pop-up books. Blue 2 is for modernists of all ages. Available at Genius Jones.

Dwell is simply one of the best things to happen in design in a long time. Since the first issue published on October of 2000 Dwell have consistently turned out an honest and unique take on the world of design. You must subscribe to this magazine if you have any interest at all in design. With features on art, architecture, craft, interiors, green living and even jewelry they are the tops in my book.

It's brilliant. The March issue of domino is dedicated to all things green, not the color but the eco movement. It can be hard to do all the research oneself to live a green life but Domino with the help of treehugger has given consumers a fabulous resource to green design from cars to fabrics to flooring to food. Subscribe, and if you don't want to do that at least buy this issue.

Here are two books that are worth having around, say in your bathroom. They're interesting little things to look at and read without making a long term commitment. From cb2

Atomic Ranch is a quarterly publication devoted to 40's - 60's modern ranch housing. This really highlights the appeal that these homes have, if you take them for what they are and don't try to turn them into colonials. Another great thing about this publication, the price is right. $19.95 for four issues/one year.
