I first saw Kiwon Wang's work about eight or nine years ago in Philadelphia where I also met here. She was quiet, letting this amazing jewelry speak for itself. She did mention, though, that she was already in the permanent collections of a few major museums. This was no crafter, this was a major artist. Her work is about the meeting of cultures, materials and methods. But I also think it is about hidden beauty and the beauty of difference, from pearl to paper. It's wonderful, isn't it?
