Arne Jacobsen, Danish Designer and Architect (1902-1971)
Arne Jacobsen is synonymous with master contemporary Danish design. Form and function was his mantra, in fact he stated, "It's been a common belief for many years that if an object is practical and functional, then it's automatically beautiful. I don't believe in this theory at all - I believe that there are different means of solving a task in a functional manner...." Famous for his chair designs, the egg, the swan and the ant, he also had a rich design legacy of housewares and office furniture. Much of his work is still in production today, pointing to it's iconic genius and timeless beauty. Images and information from; bauhaus2yourhouse, DJOB, Arne Jacobsen 100,
