For The Bedroom

I like the look of these pieces for the new bedroom. They have a vintage modern style and are flexible in design that you can use a variety of other styles mixed in. From the Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams collection.

Bedroom, Modern Soft

I've been looking for ways to redo the bedroom in a modern style, but one that still feels warm and cozy. These are some nice designs that fit that theme. They come from different searches at Flickr and on Goggle. Notice the softer lines, use of fabric and color and mix of styles.

The Great Ceiling Fan Debate

My husband and I have been discussing the issue of whether to install a hanging light or ceiling fan with a light in our master bedroom, which has extremely high ceilings. I was against a ceiling fan for purely aesthetic reasons. Granted, there are many sleek, modern fan designs on the market these days, but we have a mid-century modern interior design sensibility, and I was having trouble seeing the new, ultra modern fans in that type of interior. Well, I think we've solved the problem. These fans fit my criteria of working well in a mid-century modern interior while providing my husband with the utility of a ceiling fan. Now we just need to find a very tall ladder to install one of these.

Adding The Bedroom Light

The new light fixture
A version of this George Nelson dresser but with three drawers and legs in soft yellow
Our new house has a very high ceiling in the bedroom and I have been thinking about what hanging lamp I want to use in the space. I have the above pieces of furniture and we are making a wood headboard that will span the length of one wall and have a cantilevered single drawer, a cantilevered slate shelf below the drawer and an attached reading light on each side of the bed. This is the Norm 69 light I think I might go with for the ceiling.

Nina Rota Bed

The Nina Rota Bed is not a new design for Ron Arad, nor is it one of his iconic designs, but I find is smashing. This round bed is constructed of metal and wood with a shelf headboard and movable writing surface, and it comes in a plethora of colors and fabrics. You could live in this bed.
