If you're going to be in England any time soon check out the Cold War Modern Design exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Here are a few shots of items on sale during the show. Stop by the web site for more information and a great timeline.

Does anyone recognize the typeface on the first image? It's a striking bold face.
I have to say I don't but keep in mind that this is a book cover from a poster that represents the cold war era. It is possible that it is not a computer generated font but rather a silk screened original. That's not to say it isn't a known typeface. Good luck finding it and if you do please come back and post it. Great question by the way!
Thanks for the info, anon. Masheen looks close enough to open it up and slice it to look like the book cover. The 1 and 7 are particularly cool, and would be easy to modify.
