Dwell

Dwell is simply one of the best things to happen in design in a long time. Since the first issue published on October of 2000 Dwell have consistently turned out an honest and unique take on the world of design. You must subscribe to this magazine if you have any interest at all in design. With features on art, architecture, craft, interiors, green living and even jewelry they are the tops in my book.

Ceramics By Paul Eshelman

The combined influences of Japanese and Chinese craft, American Shaker design and contemporary architecture have guided Paul Eshelman's work. These functional objects have a simplicity that is visually interesting and wonderfully executed.

Soldering On

I love the industrial work of Soldering On and the unusual textures and forms. The studio also creates more refined designs with a contemporary style but I'm drawn to this stuff. Check out the web site for more.

Nervous System

Craft meets computation, that's their motto. Nervous Systems jewelry comes from a collaboration between an architecture student and a mathematician. Their pieces, with titles like "Dendrite Brooch" and "Radiolaria Curves Necklace", are inspired by the processes and patterns of nature. And they're pretty cool too. Available at Etsy.

Pushmepullyou

When I first saw the screen prints of Eleanor Grosch, I thought of my favorite printmaker Charley Harper and their shared love of modern, minimalist animal art. I later found out that Charley was a major influence on Eleanor's work. Her studio, Pushmepullme, creates amazing art that is so pure in form with smatterings of intricate pattern and line contrasted by blocks of color. The animals are lovely and her eye is superb.

Great Ideas

Ever see something and think to yourself, "What a great idea." I found a few items at Calliope that made me think that, so I thought I would share them with you. A folding changing table to save space, ice kabobs to chill and stir, an adoption memory book to show how much it meant to adopt a child, wine glass word tags like "Rich" & "Earthy" for fun party mixing, and question napkins to get conversation started.

So Many Fabrics, So Little Time

REPRODEPOT is an unbelievable source for unique fabric, embellishments, patterns and more. You must visit their site to see the extent and variety of their stock as this is only a small sampling. With fabrics like these you will want to get to work on a project immediately.

The Modern Landscape

In modern home design the landscape is very important because of how visible it is from the inside of the home. So many large expanses of glass give amazing views of the outdoors and the landscape should esthetically compliment the architecture.Realtor Renee Adelman's Eicher Homes web site shows some wonderful examples of modern landscape design as well as remodeling ideas. Let these inspire you.

Minimalist Jewelry

I prefer the term minimalist to simple but either way I find a beauty in pure, minimal design. These are designs of my own, and I am leaving my job of nine years in a week to jewelry design full-time so stay tuned to SES Design Jewelry for new work.
